from the national Chambers of Commerce Business Crime Survey “The
Invisible Crime” April 2008, which included questions about perceptions of
crime and confidence in the police.
2. The results showed that 56% of businesses were not confident that the
police understand the issues that are most important to them and a further
68% did not feel confident that the police were dealing with the issues that
are most important to their business. When asked about perceptions of local
crime, 81% of respondents felt that crime against business was a problem in
their local area, whilst 39% felt that the problem is small.
